I am delighted to be able to tell you that the installation of solar PV on the roofs of Cannock Chase Council tenant bungalows has been completed and that 314 households are now benefiting from free solar power. The funds raised from shareholders and a £250,000 loan from Pure Leapfrog (over 7 years) have been expended, apart from a small reserve of working capital. Final ‘snagging’ is underway together with visits to remaining tenants to explain to them how to maximise their benefit from the system.
We are also thrilled to be able to pass on the news that the Chase Community Solar project won the Community Energy award for the best Community Power project at the recent Community Energy England awards ceremony. Our partners in the Share issue, Ethex and Sharenergy were also recognised with awards. Cannock Chase Council was shortlisted in the best Local Authority category.
